Biblio

Archive: Online bookselling

We recently joined Biblio, another used book listing site. It seemed odd that it was here in North Carolina instead of Switzerland or Canada.

We've had a few orders each week. Their listings fees are modest (albeit a bit arcane I thought). If you are looking for another venue you might give them a trial and test your own luck.

I also have been posting at biblio, as well as BiblioDirect, ChooseBooks, Global Book Mart, MyOwnBooksop, and Used Book Central. Of all of these, chosen for low posting costs and ease of use, biblio has generated the most sales. Even so, biblio has, even during the busiest months, provided no more than 2 or 3 orders per week.

I keep meaning to write up an entry about this: we have too many inexpensive books cataloged. That means it is impossible for us to afford to list on most low-traffic sites. The resulting monthly fees are too high for the slender returns.

Comments:

Feel free to share your feelings about Biblio. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted.

This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.

My thanks,
Richard
