They Never Ever Want to Have Sex

Sexual Health

Asexuals Revisited

She has a new boyfriend and like most of us when we've found a new lover she's overcome with mushy sentiment.

But neither of them is like most of us:

But while Victoria's gushing affection may seem typical of any budding relationship, there is a difference. She has no interest in having sex, ever! David can understand that. He has no sexual desires either.

"Sex is never a thing that it made sense for me to do," says David.

No Sex, No Problem

Not that I'm going laugh at or mock their claimed asexuality.

Genuinely asexual persons I wish nothing but the best. They will be laughed at or regarded as spooky misfits. Perhaps some people escape both the social programming and the biological firmware that makes sex important to the rest of us.

Falsely asexual people I can only pity. If asexuality is just a ploy to let a person hide from sexual needs that they are comfortable with or simple fear of rejection one day the self-denial will have ugly consequences.

I've known a few people who spent years acting as if they had no sexuality. Eventually in each the repressed needs asserted themselves so violently that it left the person with a mind that might as well have been run through a meat grinder.

If you really are asexual: good luck. If you aren't: stop fooling yourself now.

Asexual? Impossible! Sexual need is in the DNA, Richard, if you won’t laugh at them I will. Sure won’t waste a moment feeling sorry for these self-deceiving nerds. When the day comes that they realize what they’ve denied themselves these so-called asexuals will wish they had the guts to put a gun to their heads.
Yes, sexual desires are in our DNA... but so are a lot of other traits. Traits that a lot of people do not show or admit to, yet we don't look twice at many of these. The only reason people look at someone without a sex drive twice is that we live in a highly sexual society where sex is everywhere! And by the way... do our bodies represent any signs that we should be having sex with people of the same sex... I don't think so. There are however many homosexual people, and we have grown past the idea that homosexuality is a disease, at least most of us anyways.
