Pope: gay marriage violates God's plan for humanity
Archive: Catholic • Archive: Homophobia
The Pope's latest explanation of why gay marriage is wicked, evil and bad.
“Spouses rightly deserve specific and categorical legal recognition by the state,” the pope said, “while any attempt to equate marriage with other forms of cohabitation violates its unique role in God's plan for humanity.”

Why on earth would anyone, gender preference aside, want to get married in this day and age if it werent for, lets face it, legal and thus financial recognition. If I had known what emotional trauma it would be (kids, mortgage, debt…….blah, blah!) I would never had married - but then again, alcohol always tends to change otherwise well laid plans. What has marriage got to do with God anyway??? Do you think 'he' (?) really cares about a bit of paper anyway? Nah, I am sure 'G' is way too busy creating stuff with his godly modelling kit to be bothered about beaurocracy. To that end do you think HE has a Gmail account or does he still need an invite?? Eli, I don't believe you have all of your facts straight. The first married priest has been ordained, but yes, for quite awhile priests were not allowed to be married. In the time of the plague, priests were still allowed to be married, but it was found that during this time of Crisis, they shut out the people, taking the wealth of the church to take care of themselves and their family. It was felt that a priest could not be responsible to both a family and a parish. Furthermore, to be married in a catholic church, both people must be willing to have children, and obviously, through simple anatomy, that can't happen in a homosexual relationship.
Don't get me wrong, however, I believe that Gay and Lesbian people were still created in God's image and should be allowed the full rights of the church. I'm just stating the church's side.

Who says this guy knows what he is talking about anyway? It does say in the bible not to be homosexual, but in another section it clearly states to not point out other people's so-called flaws before noticing yours. A persons sexual preference is between that person and their partner and in the end, God…

Your comments sound bitter, and frankly, sad.
Would you really want to take your anger out on religion? Is that to blame for your problems?
Feel free to share your feelings about Pope: gay marriage violates God's plan for humanity. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted.
This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard

And yet priests can't marry. Why promote the 'be fruitful' bit if you don't practice it yourself?
