Dear Rev. Phelps, I honestly do not know why you hate homosexual people so much. I am not gay and yet I have nothing against them personally. After all they bleed the same colour blood that you and I do. They are not bad people. They need love from people, not hate. Like you I feel that practicing homosexual acts is wrong in the Lord's eyes but I will not take any anger out to them. I have prayed for you and for homosexual and bisexual men and women. That you will see that gay and bisexual people need love and friendship, not getting condemded, and that gay and bisexual men and women will turn to Christ and not have any sex with someone of their own gender. Okay, You people r fucked. Reverend Phelps is an asshole!!!! To me, God doesnt exist, sorry to burst ur bubble. I am Wiccan. I believe in neither God or Satan because the christian *satan* happens to me one of my gods, *satan* is a man made myth not known until the new testament. Phelps is an asshole, so r all christians who think this way, as well as ANY BODY who thinks this way. Gay people, straight people, black, white, asain, anyone should have freedom of LIFE!!!!! not being afraid of who they are!

I belive that what Fred Phelps is doing is wrong. It is hard growing in a community when you have to shield your kids eyes so that they don't have to see those signs.When they are in a class it is even harder because the will start talking about what they believe and you disagree with them you speak up against them. You have to be willing to put God first no matter what.

I know someone not unlike Phelps. But his agenda is Christians who disagree with him, not gay people. It gives him a sense of importance: he feels that he is on a mission from god and the nasty feeling he has on other people makes him feel like he's a force in the world. The really chilling possibility with Phelps is that his crazed homophobic ranting isn't prompted by homophobia but by the feeling he found a safe target that he could denounce and attract followers. Simple opportunism.

It's a proven fact that the most virulent homophobes are often men who hate their own homosexual component, and do their utmost to suppress it. If that is the case then it's quite possible that Mr Fred Phelps is really a closet case! Hmm....

Just had a long discussion with other people about the penil circumference increase among homophobes. I don't have any problem with the idea that may be Phelps' motivation. But if you know enough virulent fundamentalists you know they have their own special set of thrills.

Fred Phelps...We are a couple of heterosexual young Australians, who read about your disgusting actions just recently. We are outraged that your actions could even be legal. You should read the entire bible, not just the parts that suit your evil, unChristian acts. If you profess yourself to be a Christian, then surely you must believe that God created all people, gay and straight, and He loves them ALL.

Freddie Phelps is a sick, SICK person who should realize that his homophobia is the result of him not wanting to admit he is homosexual as well. There is nothing wrong with homosexuals ~ they are people, just like everyone else. Also, the same goes with people of different race and culture. Anyone who can go to a funeral and yell disgusting comments to a helpless child's family and loved ones deserves to have the same done to him. I have an idea: let's go beat Phelps' son to death and hang him from a fence, then go to his funeral and picket. We will scream "GOD HATES HEDEROSEXUALS!" and we will ALSO carry signs saying he is in hell, of course, with flames surrounding the sign. See though - this would not happen because most people are NOT sick, but its just an idea to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Jesus was well known for who he had around him. Prostitutes, lepers , basically people that were considered "unlean" by the pharisees. Fred doesnt understand Gods love. Its all about loving each other, and its sad to see this happen.

i think what this guy is doing is wrong and he odvusly doesnt have any morals what so ever. hey fred! what are you attracted to? why are you attracted to that? you dont know why you just are and you always have been you dont really have a choice. well niether do gay people. do you think they want to be harrassed everyday?beatup?or killed over what they are attracted to? no because they cant help it. it is in their make up and you are blooding them for it and trying to tear them down. i am not a gay person but i belive they have every right and they are good people. fred you are what i protest against.

Dear Rev. Fred Phelps, i am completly and honestly hurting for you. I am a 20 year old gay man, who believes in Jesus Christ, and our Father in Heaven. I have always understood, our lord as mercifull creator, and i absolutly do not understand how you can have so much hate. It is evil that rejoices in the pain of others...WHY? I believe with all my heart in the power of prayer and i continue to pray for God to put his hands on you and forgive you for what you do not know. I pray that you realize that the thorn in our eye is not as large as the Stake in yours. And above all i pray that you learn to follow the love JESUS CHRIST has shown us... UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

I am apalled at the things that you say Mr Phelps. Your sermons are hideous to listen to, yet I let my friends hear a little bit of them so that they can appreciate what they have here in the west. You're going to have to get with the times..you are several decades behind. The word "fag" is hateful, and your double-standardness is pathetic. I'm glad the people in Oregon are jeering at your followers, especially your granddaughter. You put your eveil in places where it does not belong. Keep your ideas to yourself. I don't see any compassion from you except for your sorry congregation and followers. Maybe they should all leave your church and be free elsewhere. Hey phelps...Why don't you speak out on more important issues? Such as Catholic priests having their way with innocent children and how the church has covered it up for hundreds of years. I truly believe that you might be in the closet and you are intimidated by homosexuals. Doesn't your 'good book' tell you not to judge? Isn't that left up to YOUR God? What do you care what other people are doing in their private lives? Are they hurting you or anyone that you love? Then again, I don't think a man such as yourself is capable of true love.

How can this man still be preaching? it breaks my heart that there are people who listen to the hateful garbage that Phelps spews from his twisted mouth. I am not a homosexual, but some of my friends are, and the fact that some people hate them for no other reason than lifestyle is frightening for them. Hating like Phelps hates just makes him look ignorant. i don't hate him, I pity him. He and his followers are going too far. Disagreeing with a lifestyle is one thing, picketing at funerals condemning the deceased to hell is something else entirely. I was at Matthew Shepard's funeral, and I am lucky enough to be able to keep coorespondence with Dennis and Judy shepard. They almost cry whenever Phelps is mentioned. this man is an insensitive monster.

I've heard garbage like this since I was a kid. My father was a born again homophobe. At the BEST he was verbally abusive. At the worst he was physically violent. Thanks in large part to dad's bigotry and the fact that he was constantly trying to beat me into heterosexuality, I have no use for Christianity at all these days. But isn't that what always happens when the extremists try to hard to make everyone fit into their preconceived notions about everything?

Hi Phelps does not speak for all Christians even those who may place Homosexuality as a sin. The latter Christian does not hold anything against homosexuals any more than he or she would the rest of us who a separated from God. The decision for a Christian is first and foremost to believe in Christ's offer of redemption and then to walk in relationship with Him. All problems between man and God in this relationship will be confronted and eventually answered(if not here than elsewhere). If you do not believe than your decision should be fine with any true Chrisitan, though given a Christian's belief he or she would not be loving if he or she did not express and feel concerned. It is your choice. Of course if Christianity is not a fantasy or myth as some have conjectured then the cosequences etenally might not be to ones liking. In this discussion the bottom line is Phelps is wrong, he fears homosexualty more so than other issues sins etc. and does not understand the Chrisitian message as well as he should. But I believe another idea that should be noted is tolerance. Tolerance is always easy if one agrees with you in principle. It is made more diffcult when there is a fundemental issue at hand. But tolerance is what our constitution has granted us. True tolerance is what free of speach is all about and calling people F*&^%$s and the like, wishing to burn them at the stake so to speak recalls to mind a different period of time and something different than tolerance. Winning peoples hearts and minds should never be due to the force of arms in our country but the force of ones arguement. An arguement not based on name calling but logic. And in those areas where logic cannot be conclusive then the agruement for true tolerance is to agree to disagree and allow the voter's representatives to decide. It is interesting how the champions of tolerance in a few generations can morph into the puritans of tomorrow. Be carefull as a classic liberal I know the dangers. We can be driven to religious furvor and have little to do with religion.
