Corinthians, 6:9-11: gays will burn in hell

Archive: Homophobia

A visit with your typical American Christian family:

Michael turns to St. Paul's first epistle to the Corinthians, 6:9-11, which reads in part in the New International version: ''Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” He interprets the Scripture to mean gays cannot be admitted to heaven.

For family, religion shapes politics

So female prostitutes are OK? I mean, since they single out the male ones, the female ones have to be OK right? Nice double standard.

Makes me wish I had a copy of the Jerusalem Bible to see how they translated it.

Maybe there were temple prostitutes in Israel back then. Pity ancient Hebrew history isn’t knowable.

If one were to believe the bible, heaven will be a very lonely place as most of society has committed enough sins to deny entry to heaven. Ironically, most of those persons are religious people.

Comments:

Feel free to share your feelings about Corinthians, 6:9-11: gays will burn in hell. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted.

This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.

My thanks,
Richard
