Holy radio silence

Archive: Hodgepodge

Here in North Carolina I used to listen to a man who spoke in tongues for fifteen minutes twice a week. Don't have anything against Quakers but will have to give their broadcast a miss.

A Quaker meeting involves gathering in a room and sitting silently for an hour. There are no hymns, no sermons, no prayers and no priest, which make up the usual ingredients of the 40-minute programme which attracts up to 1.75 million listeners each week. During the hour of a normal Quaker meeting, the only noise, apart from the occasional cough or sneeze, comes when a participant is moved to minister.

Comments:

Feel free to share your feelings about Holy radio silence. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted.

This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.

My thanks,
Richard
