No Silver Ring Thing for Britain

Absurd Inurbane Witless

The Silver Ring Thing bombs in Britain. They won't be peddling their silly rings in t-shirts in the UK. Not that they are facing poverty. The teen virginity movement is the recipient of President Bush's faith grant payola.

Silver Ring Thing, the invention of Pennsylvania-based evangelist Denny Pattyn, is a youth movement with the aim of encouraging young people to swear off sex before marriage. ...

Three shows on Silver Ring Thing's concert tour, due to blast off last night in the village of Claygate in Surrey, have already been cancelled due to lack of interest ; one in Leeds, and two in London.

Indeed, when The Times visited Claygate in advance this week, its reporter could not find a single teenager who would confess to being a virgin.

'No sex' message doesn't ring true

Ahh, the only thing that can top Berlusconi´s farce in Italy are the ever so funny religious right of America. As I was respectfully asked to keep the insults to a minimum, I’ll just point out some obvious statistics. As you may know, the US who has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the west world, also have the most sexual abstinence orgs. While countries like Sweden and Holland, who has the most progressive sexual education in school and easily (and free up to 20 I think, at least in Sweden) accessible condoms, p-pills exc. Also have the lowest teen pregnancy rate in the world. Conclusion, even if you take a pledge and go to seminaries where they tell you that sex is wrong and is you have sex before marriage your going to hell, and your going to burn and suffer and never ever feel the love of god, you’re still probably break that pledge when you meet that special someone, but the difference is that when you take sexual education out of school and replace it with sexual abstinence training, they probably wont have a condom in their wallets for use. When its about independent orgs. Who spread this type of message I for one feels that its okay, is you as an individual feels this is “the thing” for you and you want to join that completely up to you, but when the government sponsors them and integrating them in to schools it is propaganda, as little as the Koran and the Hindu teachings that proclaim a cast society should have over moderns laws, as little should the bible.
Hey, My girls went to the Silver Ring thing near Manchester. They loved it!! They came back with rings and books and were quite happy. None of it was about going to hell if you have sex before marriage and stuff like that. I am a Christian and hope that my girls learn from my mistakes and don't have sex before marriage. If they do, I will not condemn them for it. I will make sure that it was safe and so forth. As for you being gay and so forth, that is your choice and I don't believe slander or trying to say that you will go to hell for itis wrong too. Anybody who reads the bible for themselves will find a scripture that says ALL will have a resurrection!! Everybody will have a second chance to serve and love God ... so, why should I judge you or anybody else? I have Atheist friends, Pagan friends, Gay friends and everyday friends, who has room for prejudice? I believe the Silver Ring Thing is good, for the simple fact that we really don't need more pregnant unloving parents touting kids around and so forth. Or kids who don't know how to take care of kids. It is a rough life to lead and I barely squeaked through it. I know am married with 5 kids and still struggle. I hate to think what my kids would have to go through in this time era if they did get pregnant or got someone preg. Oh, and my girls got their rings and books free. We didn't have any money to pay for them and they gave the stuff to the girls for free ... they wear the rings everyday. And no I don't check for it ... I see it tucked under their tops. I pray warm love and lots of hope for you in your life!! Sincerely and Kindly in His love, Wyllowe
I am a 21 year ago female who is a faithful christian and virgin. I just have to comment to say that Siver Ring Thing is wrong to ONLY teach abstinence because in reality sex education is SO important. I really feel that American high schools should teach adstinence AND safe sex because lets be honest you can get married and get Aids or any STD's. For myself I know when I get married I dont want children so I would need to know how to protect myself from getting pregant from my husband. Please connact me and tell me what you think of my comments
