Did Atlantis have leprechauns?

Wishful Thinking

Atlantis has been here, there, everywhere.

But now a geographer has claimed that Atlantis, first described by the Greek philosopher Plato as sinking under a tidal wave 12,000 years ago, was actually Ireland.

Ulf Erlingsson, from Uppsala University in Sweden, arrived in Ireland this week to face a tidal wave of criticism from local academics who said his theory was bizarre.

Ireland named as latest Atlantis

Comments

From what I read there was little mention of evidence to support the claim. However, one must assume that a geographer would have evidence to base such a claim on. The only disagreement made was that it was far fetched and that there are no lost cities on the sea bed. However, I saw no mention that any lost city was on the sea bed. What I read was a description of an island that matches that of Plato's description. Indeed, Plato may have visited Ireland and wrote of it, and made the tale more interesting. Many authors are known to do this. So indeed, even if Atlantis was never so, Ireland may still be the lost island of Atlantis.
Ryan, you have a sharp mind, you got it right on all counts. I can only add that the book is now shipping in Europe (in a few weeks in America too), so everybody can read the arguments themselves, and hopefully we can raise the debate level above the water :-)
I have the books for Europe if you are interesting in reading it instead of only commenting on it without a clue. Read it and then, please, come up with new interesting ideas and theories of your own. And critisism of course, which is most valuable for any serious scientist above the low water-mark. http://lindorm.com - ibeoluna@yahoo.se
