Christian investment advisor caught

Some of the born again eat it up when those Christian investment counselors tell them how God wants them to get rich.

Smith, who was a pastor at Napa Valley Baptist Church from 1986 to 1993, reached an agreement with the SEC last month prohibiting him from ever becoming an investment adviser or associating with one. ...

The agreement effectively prohibits Smith from starting up another corporation similar to his now-defunct church consulting business, the Donne Corp. He was accused of using the business to bilk millions from investors through fraudulent sales of unregistered stock at $10 a share. ...

Smith is a successful author of Christian-themed financial self-help books and currently resides in the River Park neighborhood in south Napa.
