Electrocution by Baptism

What can you say?

Mysterious ways and all that.

Rev Kyle Lake, 33, was standing in a small pool used for baptisms at the University Baptist Church when he was electrocuted on Sunday morning.

Rev Lake reached out to adjust a nearby microphone, which produced an electric shock, said church pastor Ben Dudley.

Comments

Having volunteered to run the sound system at my church in the past, I am fully aware of the potential hazzard. I would maintain the microphones at a distance unreachable by those within the baptismal tank. But as we all know many pastors really like to be in control of all aspects of the service. I have had to warn many not to touch the mocrophone, even though I knew it was fully grounded and on a GFI protected circuit. It just isn't worth the risk. The arrival of good quality, reasonably priced wireless microphones has alleviated this problem greatly. the pastor can now manage his own mike without the inherent electrical danger. Understanding that many congregations budgets are limited to adding these costlier devices to their complement concerns me. A few dollars from all the congregation and the safety rises dramatically for all involved. just my $ 0.02

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Electrocution by Baptism. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
