Don't lust after my Goddess! (Saraswati)

What can you say?

A Bengali writer is being sued for lusting after an image of Saraswati (goddess of knowledge and art).

Author Sunil Gangopadhyay was quoted in a newspaper saying that he was sexually aroused by an idol of the Hindu goddess of learning, Saraswati.

Retired policeman Bhibhuti Bhusan Nandy has sued Gangopadhyay saying that he hurt his religious sentiments.

Writer sued for defiling idol

I lusted on a painted image of Eve in a Bible storybook when I was a kid (6-8 years old). Yes, lusted! I even remembered kissing it, and praying to Jebus for forgiveness. Haha, It’s quite embarrassing to even recall such things. And to share it to the world, even!
I remember similarly being aroused a little bit by an advertisement showing Adam and Eve discreetly naked in the Garden of Eden. I think they were advertising a cheap Bible movie.
Writer sexually kissed Saraswati Idol: Got ‘Saraswati Samman’ After getting last month ‘Saraswati Samman’, given by K K Birla Foundation, writer of more than 260 books Sunil Gangopadhyay proudly repeated on March 28, in a leading English newspaper of WB, that he sexually kissed Saraswati idol to see its beauty. He was a member of a government committee that suggested WB Govt. to ban a book of exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen in 2003 on the grounds that it hurt sentiments of Muslims. But he thinks that Secular Non-Hindu Govt. of Center and WB authorised him to insult the Hindu sentiments. Ma Saraswati, the daughter of Ma Durga and Lord Shiva, is the Goddess of education. Nandy lodged FIR against Sunil Gangopadhyay in police station of 24 Paraganas district of WB. Nandy retired in 2000 as the national security advisor to the government of Mauritius. Two years ago there were demonstrations outside a newspaper office in Calcutta after he wrote about the sex life of Indian spiritual leader Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Last year, the Bangladesh government banned an issue of an Indian magazine, which carried a story by Gangopadhyay where he wrote about the sex life of the Prophet Muhammad. Secularist Anti-Hindu HRD minister Arjun Sinh is with the help of such types of communistic historians and writers want to remove saffron color of the Educational books. Are they going to remove saffron color of Tricolor flag also? ‘Aman Setu’ of LoC was being painted in saffron color. To receive Pakistan objection it was being painted in tricolor including saffron. Again objected by Pakistan. In the last ‘Aman Setu’ was painted in white color. Jaheera said Teesta sold Gujarat riot to US. I recall news of Teesta owned web site: sabrang.com/cc/comold/oct99/cover6.htm “Neither the state nor the country could have forgotten the controversy over the state government’s attempts to impose the singing of Saraswati Vandana and Vande Mataram in schools all over Uttar Pradesh.” In the name of Jaheera on the advise of so called human activist Teesta and NHRC, Best Bakery case was transferred out of Gujarat and thus a dangerous precedent established. Now Kanchi Mutt Seer wants the transfer of his cases out of TN. Would his demand be refused? Now same Jaheera raised her finger on Teesta & NHRC. She said Teesta Gujarat riot to US. Secularist media say every thing for Jaheera but what about Teesta & Co.? Why Leftist objected Saraswati Vandana? Saraswati Puja is a holiday in West Bengal, and yet its state minister [Kanti Biswas] objected! Durga Puja of W.B. is world famous. Ashfaqullah Khan, one of the daredevils in the Kakori Conspiracy case, who "kissed the gallows reciting Vande Mataram. One Bhargav has filed petition in SC for removing ‘Sindh’ word from the anthem. http://www.hinduonnet.com/holnus/007200504081105.htm “Kaneria, the only Hindu cricketer in the present Pakistan squad, visited the Kalibari yesterday and offered prayer. Earlier during the second Test at Kolkata, Kaneria offered prayer at the famous Kali temple at Kalighat. “ Filmmakers of “The Goddess” are turning Kali Maa into a musical joke, “dancing and singing atop of a tiger”. This will be very offensive to her millions of worshippers and a billion Hindus worldwide. Further, they are casting Tina Turner as the Goddess. We have no quarrel with Ms Turner as such, as she is talented but because of her reputation/image as a “sex icon” in most people’s minds, it is improper to cast her as Kali. Following creates anger among Hindus. Till now, socks, undergarments, toilet seat covers, boxes of tissues, shoes, sandals & finger puppets have all been tracked down as bearing "offensive" symbol, images, of Lord Krishna, Ram, Saraswati, Om and so on. Washington, February 7, 2005: An American online store selling women’s undergarments featuring images of Hindu Gods and religious icons has angered members of the community who have demanded their immediate withdrawal from the website. Millions pamphlets were distributed in villages & Bangalore by Benny. Pamplets are with insulted wordings on worship of Hindu God and advised to follow Christ. On instruction of secular Sonia, karnatak CM ‘Adharm’ & Christian CM of Andhra climbed on the stage of Benny in CMs capacity? Don’t be tolerating now. Overall, there is a vast semi-conscious international conspiracy to denigrate Hinduism; and there Muslims and Christians walk hand in hand: it goes from Husain painting Saraswati naked, Deepa Mehta's lesbians being called Radha-Sita to Kanchi Mutt Seers’ arrest. Secularists call Hindu Organizations fascist, but let a Hindu minority in Saudi Arabia, or even in Europe, try to denigrate the Virgin Mary or Jesus, and see what happens. The world is quite small these days. Hindus are naturally tolerant, but there has to be a limit if the line is crossed. Hindus can aggressive document that their hearts and minds both are efficient to counter any attack on our culture. Francois Gautier is the South Asia correspondent for Le Figaro, one of France's most respected newspapers. He has lived in India since 1971, and has been associated with Auroville in Pondicherry for much of that time.).He wrote like that: The ministers walked out when the Saraswati Vandana was played. But why should anyone object to Saraswati, the Goddess of learning, She who bestowed so much Grace on India. In 1939, a disciple had said to Sri Aurobindo that: "there are some people who object to the singing of Vande Mataram as a national song; Sri Aurobindo had replied: "in that case Hindus should give up their culture". But the disciple had continued: "the argument is that the song speaks of Hindu gods, like Durga and that it is offensive to Muslims". Said Sri Aurobindo: "but it is not a religious song, it is a national song and the Durga spoken of is India as the Mother. Why should not the Muslims accept it? In the Indian concept of nationality, the Hindu view should be naturally there. if it cannot find a place, the Hindus may as well be asked to give-up their culture. The Hindus don't object to "Allah-Ho-Akbar". Premendra Agrawal Mail at: comindia2004@epatra.com
as a bengali i am deeply hurt by the expression of sunil gangopadhyay on goddess saraswati. he may be great by writing 200+ odd books but he lost his greatness by expressing his lust for the goddess worshipped by millions. anyone may have forbidden thought but to express it is a sin and amounts to selling a secret to the highest bidder.he wanted to glamourise his thoughts which showed his inability to control his baser insticts disregarding the sentiments of bengalis and hindus at large. dignity of religion is a must and to be protected as is done in other religions.
