Saint Che Guevara

Superstitious Folly

Che Guevara, a Marxist and atheist, would've been appalled to discover himself joining Jesus and the Virgin Mary as a saint in the Bolivian village of La Higuera. Saints are good money makers.

"They say he brings miracles," said Susana Osinaga, 70, who was a young nurse on Oct. 9, 1967, when she washed the blood off Guevara's corpse in Vallegrande's small hospital.

In Bolivia, push for Che tourism follows locals' reverence

Comments

I have been working on a term paper on Che Guevara. As a college student, I was given the opportunity to chose a topic of my own desire and asked to annalyze the life of this man and examine why he has become a present day pop icon. The truth is, the more I read about "El Che" the more I am realizing that there is no real reason that he has become an unfortunate part of capitalism. Che Guevara was a man with incredible qualities, but he was not an incredible man. Sainthood!!give me a break. Might as well throw hitler in there than too.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Saint Che Guevara. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
