The Ghosts in room 9

Spooky Nonsense: Ghosts & Hauntings

Funny how many tourist traps are haunted. One could almost suspect there's some financial incentive in claiming you have spooks about.

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- If you plan to stay at the 191-year-old Buxton Inn in this central Ohio community, don't ask for Room 9 unless you want some unexpected -- and unseen -- company.

Guests, employees and psychics report lights and locks the operate by themselves, and claim they've seen two figures roaming the halls and rooms.

Employees believe the culprits are the ghosts of two former innkeepers in the 1812 structure, first built as a stagecoach stop.

Innkeepers Believed To Haunt Ohio Inn

Comments

Actually, this particular inn has a rule requiring that staff members do not mention the ghosts unless asked. There's also nothing about the hauntings on their official website.
Having just returned from an attempted stay at the Buxton Inn in Granville Ohio I came across your site researching the hauntings at this locale. This past summer my daughter and I stayed at this inn prompting my repeat reservations. However this time was not a pleasant stay. Upon finishing a lovely dinner I went to my room, room number 8, being very tired got ready for bed to watch television and read. Well after about two hours I heard foot steps pass by my room stop at the door then continue down the stairs next to the door. Thinking nothing of it continued watching television until I heard it again. This continued for about two hours. Having peeked out the door window previously and seeing no one I began getting spooked. By this time it was aound 12:30 a.m. and knew that if I were to get any sleep it would not be at the Buxton Inn. I called the front desk, having been told earlier that someone would be there 24 hours, requesting that the front desk person please come and walk me to my car because it seemed as though someone was walking back and forth in front of my room. She explained that she could not come because she had to stay at the front desk. It took a bit of convincing to have her come to my room. I do not scare easily, camp alone often in isolated places, drive cross country solo, consider myself fearless with a dose of common sense. But I will not be staying at the Buxton Inn again.
I have worked as a housekeeper before at the buxton itself. I now live in California but still remember unexplainable events. I wonder if you ever heard about the reason why the rooms in the old part of buxton are haunted? No, It is not only the old inn keepers haunting it! A very lost and disturb soul of a women roams the 3 rooms.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about The Ghosts in room 9. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
