Penn Jillette on faith

Skeptics & Atheists

An interview with Penn Jillette about Bullshit!

There is no difference between Mel Gibson’s faith and the terrorist’s faith. We have no evidence that there was a historic Jesus, we have no evidence that he died for our sins. We have no evidence, that we can agree on, for any of that. If you look at the distribution of religion, it tends to be geographical and not intellectual, which is a another discussion.

While i can't say if there is a difference between Gibson's faith and the faith of a terrorist i can say that any faith not founded in intelligence and love is as far as i know idolatrous(if that is a word, lol, i am trying to allude to idolatry). Evidence would suggest that the terrorist's faith is not founded on either of these, taking the lives of innocents no matter who they are or where they are from is not loving and not intelligent. There is actually more evidence that there was a historic Jesus than i originally thought. If anyone is interested on reading up on some of the evidence the book "The case for Christ" would be helpful. It details the nature of the accounts of his existence and even medical conditions as described in the current documents. Some people may be put off by the way it challenges people to really ask if you believe, this may be viewed as an attempt to convert people, but it was written by an atheist who in writing the book was converted. So at least look at it for its informational value. The third point he said was about geography which would take some reasearch, but i can say that an enlightened person of any faith would realize that all major religions regardless of where they are from have something to contribute to the inner spirituality of man. Please don't criticize my spelling and grammar errors it's 1:30 and got off work at 12. Thanks

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Penn Jillette on faith. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
