Atheist school student punished

Now you know that if Kenny Hess had said Jesus is my Cosmic Sugardaddy the school officials wouldn't have faulted his 'personal' message.

A Spanaway Lake High School senior has been banned from TV production assignments for the rest of the year because he altered the Pledge of Allegiance during a student-produced broadcast.

The student, Kenny Hess, removed the words "under God" from the pledge, which is shown with an American flag background on classroom TV throughout the school. Hess also declined to recite the phrase and, instead read, "one nation ... indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

School officials said they've punished Hess for misusing school equipment to deliver a personal message.

All this student did was return the Pledge of Allegiance to its wording prior to modifications inserted by McCarthy-ites in the 1950s. That's right folks, the pledge hasn't always had the "under god" part -- it was added in 1954 to distinguish the United States from the "godless communists". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_allegiance for more details about the history of the pledge -- you might be surprised at what you find.

Feel free to share your feelings about Atheist school student punished. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments.
