Sex & atheism: two weblogs, one goal

Richard Evans Lee

Before I created Amorous Propensities and Gullibility isn't in the dictionary here I had a Live Journal community called Edifying Spectacle (after the website).

The Live Journal community initially focused on the doings and dreams of anti-naturalistic, superstitious folks of all stripes: believers in anything supernatural, flying saucer nuts, psychic frauds. My initial inspiration was the American notes in Mencken's early American Mercury.

Slowly curious, funny, sometimes bad and mad sexual happenings and imaginings made their way into the entries. Sexual behavior is often as laughable and sad as the follies of faith and wishful thinking. I suspect that distorted sexuality does as much damage as hungering after the nonexistent. Of course, much sexual misery is caused by the unhappy prohibitions of religious faiths. Even unbelievers suffer from the subtle mod coercion of the major religions. And erotic needs prompt much profitable pseudoscience (say, Avlimil).

One my end the two weblogs are really one. I separated sexuality and atheism for you folks, the readers. Many entries - homophobia, hurtful laws limiting personal behavior - are arbitrarily thrown in one weblog.(Really there's lots of sex scattered across my weblogs. Pansexual Sodomite certainly, also Diversions and even Computer Toaster - only my too quiet weblog about being a used bookshop owner is free of sex.)

My point? If you are reading Amorous Propensities or Gullibility isn't in the dictionary for humor, maybe a little outrage, you might like the other weblog.

This sounds like advertising (not there's any money to be made) or a plea (for what?). Like all my weblogs this entry was an agreeable way to pass a few minutes.
