Sci-fi channel vs. intelligence

Richard Evans Lee

I'd meant it to be a short complaint about how the science fiction genre had come to suggest junk like Taken. But I typed and typed and it was really too long for this weblog. So I posted it elsewhere:

Heinlein vs. Taken

Comments

You didn't mention the greatest betrayal of science fiction committed by the 'sci-fi' channel: that abomination, John Edwards, and his idiotic Crossing Over program.
Oddly enough I'd forgotten about Edwards. Normally I don't watch South Park but I did see the one where Edwards was voted the "Biggest Douchebag in the Universe." I remember when the channel first started their only advertisers were psychic hotline people. Hard to believe how much that surprised me. The entry was longer than I'd intended and by the time I was about halfway through I was doing my best to not follow every bypath that occured to me.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Sci-fi channel vs. intelligence. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
