Lester Maddox, misanthropy & etc.

Richard Evans Lee

My tidying up of an old bit on former Georgia Governor Lester Maddox relates only minimally to this weblog but some may find the glimpse of Georgia politics, race and clownishness from the time interesting.

I have a pet theory that beneath the veneer imposed by socialization the average person has beliefs that are mightily batty.

And I've recovered an old statement of faith or rather anti-faith.

I accept every event in space and time as the effect of particles and their fields. I’d be mighty glad to know why existence exists or if there is a reason. But I haven’t worried about it much since my teens anymore than I worry about the crabgrass.
