Belief-O-Matic must be broken

Richard Evans Lee

Having a couple of spare minutes to murder I took Belief.net's Belief-O-Matic quiz. My results?

Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%)

Beats the Hell out of me. I should've been "Nontheist" (since they don't seem to have anti-theist).

Honestly, that quiz should be a lot simpler than it is. I can imagine a quiz that starts out about whether you believe in god or not, and cutting about 90% of those questions out. If you don't believe in a god, how do you believe in salvation? Who do you repent to? I think that quiz simply tries to convince people they believe in something, when most of us either don't believe, or anti-believe. See, you're just like us, you're a liberal Christian atheist!
I keep getting UU, followed by Secular Humanism,Theraveda Buddhism , Liberal Christian Protestant, then nontheist. I reckon that what misleads the purveyors of this quiz is a basic assumption that if you agree with anything humane or compassionate at all, you can't be an atheist. After all, they're the baddies.
Did anybody read the description of Roman Catholic, and feel the urge to impale themselves on a large, not-too-sharp, wooden stick? I did. My parents baptized me Roman Catholic when I was a baby. Damn them... Secular Humanists is the only "belief" that sounds legal. I can't get this dirty feeling off of me after reading that Roman Catholic spew.. Gahhhh!!
I wonder what I would be? I worship a rock in the middle of a 4x4 Racing Faciliy in the deserts north of Powell, Wyoming... Our hymns come from rathergood.com and our ofterlife is the "moment after next" ... we (that is my g/f and i) believe in enjoying life embracing it, being kind to others doing nice things... Clayton looked like a good rock to edify into a God, so, we did.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Belief-O-Matic must be broken. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
