Someone identifying themselves as a psychic called the Fort Myers, FL Transportation Security Administration office to report that a bomb had been planted on an American Airlines plane. Unsurprisingly no bomb was found. By the time the search was concluded the flight was cancelled.

"But in these times, we can't ignore anything. We want to take the appropriate measures," he [ Doug Perkins, local administrator for the federal Transportation Security Administration] said.

Opens up all sorts of exciting possibilities for people who enjoy placing crank phone calls.

It's bad enough that Nancy Reagan went to an astrologer for horoscopes and actually BELIEVED them, but for someone to call in a "Psychic" tip and for the gov't to take it seriously? Though, I guess I would too were I the gov't. I mean, they miss all those tips from flight schools. For all they knew, this "Psychic" could have planted a bomb.
