Holy war against condoms

Christian Fundamentalism , • Miseducation

How Silver Ring Thing uses federal money:

[Denny]Pattyn doesn’t just preach the virtues of sexual abstinence. His show is full of negative messages about condoms – messages warning that condoms won’t protect kids from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

"We spoke with some of the kids after the show in Fort Meyers and they said that going into the program they thought that condoms did work, but your show convinced them that they didn’t," says Bradley to Pattyn.

Okay...but, condoms don't always work...it's true. And, if student think (most of them do) that condoms will protect them from HIV/AIDS, and other STDs, then they're mistaken. I'm glad someone's telling them. This, once again, goes right up against today's culture's definition of... TOLERANCE: "a : sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own, unless they are related to Christianty, if so, then do not tolerate. Additionally, create the situation to appear that those promoting Christian beliefs are the ones who are not tolerating others' beliefs. b : the act of allowing something. "
Should any lexicographer adopt such a childish self-pitying definition I would expect him to be fired.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Holy war against condoms. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
