Baptists don't like modern psychology

Mental, Social Pseudoscience

Indeed what could appall a Baptist more than a psychologist who does not discriminate against people because of their religion or sexuality? That aren't, say, homophobic?

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary wants students to be skeptical toward much of modern psychology and to look first to the Bible for guidance -- a major shift for a school that pioneered the integration of theology and psychology decades ago.

I'm not Baptist, but I've noticed that your blog uses broad strokes in painting the pictures that you want your readers to see. We're a society of individuals, even among Baptists, and they all don't think that way. I know some. But, you have the right to keep using your writing style if you wish. We all have that right. But, it takes away your credibility, one post at a time. Respect your readers.
This weblog is in the spirit of H.L. Mencken. I've written disclaimers that I'm aware of the nuances and subtleties of human behavior. But often I'm just looking to inspire a guffaw or a grimace from my fellow anti-theists.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Baptists don't like modern psychology. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
