Walt Disney and god

Hodgepodge

Some of the odd insights to be found in The Gospel According to Disney:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney's first full-length animated feature (1937), exemplifies the message of good vanquishing evil and quasi-biblical material minus the Bible.

The huntsman who defies orders to kill Snow White faintly recalls Abraham's near-sacrifice of Isaac (Genesis 22). Snow White eats deadly fruit (a la Genesis 3:6) but is revived in the last reel, perhaps echoing Jesus' resurrection.

Snow White kneels at her bed with folded hands, but if she's praying there's no mention of God. And in the Pinocchio morality tale (1940), Geppetto doesn't pray but wishes "upon a star."
