Locke v. Davey

Hodgepodge

Sometimes even I'm forced to side with the godly. I'd just as soon have tax payer funded scholarships for theologians as PE teachers.

Davey sued Washington state when it rescinded a grant to help pay his tuition at private Northwest College because he decided to study theology. Since then, lower courts have reached conflicting decisions on the case, and this year the state asked the Supreme Court to hear it ...

Howard Wilson, vice president of student life at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., has said banning taxpayer money for scholarships for ministry students is discriminatory. "It says a person who's going to become a doctor has more to contribute than a person who's going to become a pastor."

My doctors sure have.

Comments

I am a pre law student i i am actualy the state attourney ina moot court trial that we will be having in 2 weeks. When i first was given the job of defending the states intrest i was kind of mad, because i did not agree with the state law, but after much research i can see the states reasoning behind what they are doing..I have a question fo who ever is answering...do you feel that the washington Statute as written and interpreted a contenet-based law requiring a compelling state interest in order to uphold it? I think it is but i would like to get someone elses opinion on the issue thank you

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Locke v. Davey. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
