This is Tom Cruise on drugs

Gossip

Tom Cruise reveals his vast mental powers while hawking a movie:

"Matt. Matt. Matt, you don't even - you're glib. You don't even know what Ritalin is," he said. ...

"Psychiatry is a pseudo science," he said.

"She [Brooke Shields] doesn't understand the history of psychiatry. She doesn't understand in the same way that you don't understand it, Matt.

"You don't know the history of psychiatry. I do," he added.

Cruise clashes on TV over drugs

An editor truely desparate for a celebrity interview:

With so much bad blood between them, how did Reader’s Digest land a rare sit-down with Scientology’s top celebrity spokesman? By caving in to a long list of bizarre demands. According to well-placed sources at the magazine, to ensure Cruise’s cooperation, the Digest’s reporter, Meg Grant, promised to give “Scientology issues” equal play in her profile of the star, and agreed to enroll in a one-day Church “immersion course.”

Why is it that those who claim to 'know god' or become immersed in a 'fringe culture' such as (my opinion only) Scientology, or believe in "THE WAY" are always the most closed minded, incapable of not only just of seeing someone else's side, but even acknowledging that there is another 'side to see'? Recently I began, what I perceived to be a little 'small talk' with a temp employee at my office, just to be friendly since she was new & alone, only somehow, in maybe 60 seconds we were discussing a book she'd read that was called "THE WAY" when I asked her about it or how it differed from my brother's transformation into Christianity, her only answer was that I had to 'know the way' and if I read the book, I would know, because by reading it, I would know that it WAS the WAY. Our conversation ended rather abruptly or at least my side. She continued to pursue me whenever she could to talk further. Only she didn't notice that I had stopped talking. When my brother started going to bible study, followed by church, instructions & classes (I didn't know about that until later) just to prove he was worthy & had heard the call to Jesus, before he was accepted in the church, for the following next 5 years every conversation, regardless of how it started out ended up in his proselytizing (hope I used that right). In addition he has developed more intolerance for people who are "different" more judgmental & opinionated than he ever was. Often cruel, especially to his family (not HIS familiy meaning wife & child) but anyone else who shares his blood. I'm sure I don't have to say anything about the followers of Mohammad and their acceptance of anyone who does not share their religion. What really seems ironic is that none of the members or believers in what I mentioned above have to ability to accept that there might be "another side' or a "different belief" because each is insistent that there is no possiblity of there EVEN BEING ANOTHER WAY TO BELIEVE, PERCEIVE OR UNDERSTAND OR FEEL. It's as if the 'reasoning' part of their brains were atrophied and not acknowleging any aspect of anything different than they are, seems more like a type of mental illness in itself. After all isn't fanaticism in itself a type of insanity??? .........but, this is only MY OPINION>
In the recent interview with Matt Lauer this is the point that Tom Cruise didn’t make. Do you know how much prescription drugs are worth to Big Pharma? On a world wide basis about a trillion + dollars. How far do you think they would go to protect this income? How much do you suppose the pharmaceutical companies spend advertising drugs on TV, Radio, Magazines and News media? How much do they spend lobbying Congress to look the other way? How much do they pay (Grants) universities such as Harvard and Columbia to agree that drugging children is scientifically valid? Right now Ritalin is being dispensed in schools under the guise of treating over active children. Ritalin is a form of amphetamine and of course as time goes by and it doesn’t “work” the school psychologist then prescribes a higher dosage and then amphetamines and the end product is the teenager becomes a drug addict and a lifetime client. Please don’t believe me but take the time to research it, Google is a great tool for this. Keywords are Prozac, Ritalin, School shootings, and Suicide. Regards Michael Hammond
In surfing the net I found this releasIn an explosive admission, American psychiatric Association President, Steven Sharfstein, did a 180-degree turnaround from his TODAY show interview (June 27) and admitted that there is no way to test for a "chemical imbalance" as the cause for mental disorders. PEOPLE magazine (July 11), quoted Dr. Sharfstein conceding, "We do not have a clean-cut lab test." Dr. Sharfstein is not alone. Elliot Valenstein, Ph.D. says, "There are no tests available for assessing the chemical status of a living person's brain." The late Dr. Loren Mosher stated, "...there are no external validating criteria for psychiatric diagnoses." In 2004, psychiatrist M. Douglas Mar debunked the theory that brain scans can help diagnose mental diseases stating, "There is no scientific basis for these claims [of using brain scans for psychiatric diagnosis]." Harvard University professor, Joseph Glenmullen, author of "Prozac Backlash," said the questionnaires of symptoms used to "diagnose" depression "may look scientific," but "are utterly subjective measures."e:
I was perusing the internet today and I came across a couple of ET interviews with Catherine Bell and Kelly Preston who were defending Tom's actions. Although I believe that Tom has a right to his opinion, I think that it was inappropriate and somewhat childish of him to chastize Brooke Shields in public view. I feel that more "celebrities" need to be as brave as Mrs. Shields in telling us "normal" people that although famous and rich, they can have problems too. I can't imagine how Tom can even begin to understand or even any woman who hasn't experienced post-partum depression to even begin to fathom what Brook Shields was going through during her first year of motherhood. I too am a mother, and I thank God every day that I was able to enjoy my time with my child. There are so many milestones in the first year that if one doesn't feel connected or just feels lost, those memories are too lost forever. I think that people need opinions, they are a necessary part of life-they make us think, they make us push for change, they challenge who were are and why we choose to believe what we do. Although I don't like the idea of "drugging america", I do feel that it at times absolutely necessary for life to function. It must be nice that Tom, Catherine and Kelly can get through life, capable of emotionally, mentally and physically handling what is thrown at them, but who are they to sit on their high horses and condemn those who need a little help. It is imperative that as a human being that we grow up, get a job, buy a house and car and first and foremost take care of themselves. How is someone supposed to function to those capacities if they feel incapaciated in some way? For example, drugging children is probably the biggest thing society has a problem with, but if a child can not concentrate in class, they are disruptive, they aren't able to sit down, etc...they can't learn, can't write, can't read and thus eventually can't function as an adult the way society expects him/her to do it. So what does a parent do. Put him in special ed, change districts, go to counseling, send him/her to boot camp? What!? I wish that Tom, Catherine and Kelly would be able to come up with answers for that instead of demeaning people who are trying to function and be a contributing adult, not only to family but to everyone. When people who are against drugs come up with a better idea on how to teach a 6 year old to read or a mother not to reject her newborn or a person not to want to kill themselves, then I am in support of those who look at the bigger picture-they need help, they want to read and learn and they want to live and they want to love and take care of their family and themselves. It takes a brave person to admit to needing help, but it only takes a coward to criticize those when you can not understand or empathize with what people are experiencing.
