Girls love the Goddess and so do the tourists
• Faith is Profitable
One thing that makes any god or goddess more popular is bringing in the cash.
It is one of the most important of local festivals in Rajasthan. It is believed that if unmarried girls observe the rituals associated with this festival, they will get married to the spouse of their choice. Married women observe the rituals for the happiness and long life of their husbands. It is celebrated in honour of Gauri, the Goddess of Abundance.
A large number of tourists have come to attend the festival. Pawan Jain, an Assistant Director of the state's Department of Tourism, says that as in previous years, this year's festival is attracting tourists, both domestic and foreign.
