Christian idol worship

Christian Pop Culture

Probably none of you ever watched the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) when it was still around. Back in the 80s they had some lovely original TV programming.

There was The Totaled Woman: an overweight 'average' Christian housewife would wriggle about to The Elephant Walk at the beginning. Then Christian homemakers would come on and share house cleaning tips and recipes. My favorite was Velveeta and peanut butter cookies.

I forget the name of the Christian soap opera. I've never watched the regular ones but for a time I rarely missed this. I especially liked the miracles and healings.

Now the Trinity Broadcasting Network in partnership with the fine folks who help keep Britney Spears stay on top of the pop charts and boys dirty dreams will bring us Gifted.

Gifted, a Christian version of the popular American Idol TV show, is scheduled to debut in October on Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Costa Mesa, Calif.-based conglomerate that features evangelists such as Benny Hinn.

I think it'll be interesting to see how they measure up with Christian music. These days, Christian music have been popular and even have been on the mainstream chart for top hits, every now and then, such as DC Talk, Jars of Clay, Sixpence None The Richer, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith and many others. I am curious to check out this show in October. We shall see...
Dear Richard, I just said a prayer to the Lord, Christ Jesus for you, who is the one who created you out of His love. I was an atheist until I desperately needed God and in my cry for help He responded. My life is miraculously changed and I am relating my experience to anyone who is willing to be open minded. I know that is what you want Christians to be is open minded so be what you think you must my friend and realize life and the ways of life are by His design, not mine. God is at the center of my universe because if I deny Him then I would be at the center of the universe and keeping everything under control is to large of a task for me. I can't even get rid of the common cold but I have seen the Lord heal terminal cancer and straighten limbs, which is all well documented. If you are only looking for people who you agree with then you are as closed minded and prejudice as the ones you fear will harm you. I have no intention to harm you but only love you as a fellow human being trying to find his way into the Father's arms. God bless you and be well, Mike.
You were weak and started believing in 'God' - wow! - what a powerful testimony. I do wish the Lamb-washed wouldn't leave these boring notes.
Allah was the Pre-Islamic Moon God of Yemen or the Arabs (hence the Moon associated with Islam). Allah had three daughters or trinity Goddesses of the Desert, who were Allatu (Al-lat or Allat), Menat (Manat) and Al-Uzza [all mentioned in the Quran]. Allatu - was the Dawn Goddess and Goddess of Fertility or Light, was simply known as 'The Goddess'. And was so liked by the Greeks that they borrowed her and she then became the Dawn Goddess Leto, the mother of Apollo. Menat - or Goddess of Fate & Destiny, was personified by the evening star. Her cult was situated between Mecca and Medina and she was worshiped in the form of a 'black stone'. Kaaba or Kara meaning black. Also 'Kar' meaning stone used for worship in ancient times. Al-Uzza - was the Patron Goddess of Mecca, she was identified with Venus the morning star. Hence the 'Moon and the Star'. Further Muhammad - 570-632AD - was born a Quraishite or a member of the (5th century) dominant Arab group called the Quraish or Koreish, who were distinguished by their religious preeminence, as hereditary custodians of the pre-Islamic Kaaba at Mecca. Abdullah - Muhammad’s father, means the Servant of Allah. Mohammad the founder of Islam used a name of a God that was already in existence. Muhammad – reported to be illiterate, wrote none of the Koran in his life time. Some of the Quran was reported to have been written a few hundred years after his death as Islam developed. Question – was Muhammad simply trying to modernize the Arab state, by promoting his favorite God - Allah (God of the Moon or Light) over all others; but yet, still maintaining the core of the Kaaba or Moon God worship, in line with family tradition? Don’t forget, that the Jews and the Christians already had ‘One God’. And maybe to him the Arabs looked backwards with so many Gods, so to keep up with the times, he simply narrowed it down, keeping most aspects of the Moon Cult. (Kaaba - could easily move to Quran (Kaaban) or the Book of the Kaaba - Qara also meaning to read, naturally from a stone).
Allah is not moon-god or anything remotely like that. Allah is the same God that Christians worship. Even Jesus used the word 'Alaha' in his Aramaic tongue. The Quran very clearly states that Allah created the moon and everything else. Therefore Allah is not the moon. This is a lie spread by Pat Robertson who hates Islam because it tells the truth about Jesus - i.e. that Jesus is NOT the son of God, but rather a Prophet of God. Allah is the One (undivided) Creator of this Universe. He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, All-Knowing and All-Wise. He begets not and is not begotten. He is Unique. There are none like Him. He needs no one but we all need Him. He created Adam and Eve and Jesus and David and Solomon and Noah and Mohammad (Peace Be Upon him). Pat Robertson even said that Islam wants to exterminate Jews. This is hypocritical of him because Pat Robertson and all Evangelicals like him believe that in the end times Jews will be converted to Christianity and those who don't convert will be killed by Christians.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Christian idol worship. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
