The Resurrection of the Son of God

Christian Fundamentalism

They never will stop trying. Sounds like the author's main arguement is that it must be true because of Christianity's success.

The Resurrection of the Son of God (Fortress). In his 817-page work, the Rev. N.T. "Tom" Wright, canon theologian of Westminster Abbey in London, disputes theologians who contend the Resurrection was "not a historical event"

Successful through oppression
I'm almost finished reading the book. My next statement might upset some people, but this book is really more of a history book than a theology book. Not once does the author reach a conclusion because "The Bible is the Word of God." His arguments and questions, not to mention his voluminous research, merit more than a brief write-off. He does not claim that his argument must be true because of the success of Christianity. Instead, he even admits that uch of Christianity may have gotten it seriously wrong. But something happened in the first century which cries out for explanation, and most of the explanations offered have proven woefully inaccurate. One can ignore what happened, that's fine, and one can ignore Wright's explanation. But integrity and respect would challenge us not to simply whitewash what he is saying.

Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
