A slightly tangential comment on Saddam: I'm sick of seeing him painted as "the most evil man in the world". In fact, he's a perfectly ordinary stupid old man who hates all sorts of people for all sorts of reason. I'm sure I could spend a couple of hours wandering around Waco (well, just about anywhere actually) and find dozens of stupid old men with all sorts of bigotry who would cause all sorts of horrors if their deepest desires were granted. The only real difference is that Saddam wielded lots of power, and this is pretty much a crapshoot anyone might win. And more so in places with bad political systems. This is not an issue about how unfortunate we are that there are really really bad men in the world. It's an issue about how poorly thought out political systems give too much power to dickheads.
I totally agree with what you say eeen. You would have some religious, or brain-washed wackos saying that he is a demon or that the devil is behind him patting him on the back. I don't believe the devil has an effect on us. It's our own stupid wants and desires that tempt us and screws us up in the end. The devil seems more like a reason or an excuse for what we do.
