Adam Nicolson, author of God’s Secretaries : The Making of the King James Bible was on a book tour in America.

My book is a fairly secular take on what is, of course, an intensely religious subject. There is a church in the States - with its headquarters and constituency deep in the deep South - called the King James Onlyists, for whom the Authorised Version is not just the most beautiful Bible in English but the Only True Bible. All later revisions are nothing but the work of the devil, deliberately distorting the pure Jacobean text.
