CD burning in Orrum, NC

Christian Fundamentalism

Last weekend, about two dozen youths from Zion Hill Baptist Church fought off a rainstorm and torched a pile of more than 200 CDs, DVDs and videos they termed offensive. Jessica Alexander added to the pile by tossing an Eminem CD into the flames. She says she was hooked on rap music by her friends, but she now considers it a form of brainwashing. Jessica says she's listening to Christian music now and she feels better.

Any moron who thinks that music can make you "un-christian" and burning the work of artists who have put their heart into their music and movies just because you find it offensive, should just live their pointless god-driven life that has no purpose on an island, alone. You people are worthless to society, and should just die out. I will not deny the existence of a higher power, but I will never let my life be run by people who practice hypocrisy and idiocy and think they are better than non-believers. How can you say that you are brainwashed by music, when that is exactly what your parents, pastors, friends, and the entire organized christian religion is doing to people. I will consider you equals when you stop acting like neanderthals.
Any nukka who posts the same shizzle twice deserves to have his whole stash burnt & his lame @ss should get a ticket to H-E-double-hockey-sticks straight away. Seriously, tho 'Lex may be a nukka, he has some serious point to make about freedown to talk sh*t & not face consequences. Left-hand path in the house say "yeah!"
what the fuck are you talking about. accidental double post and thats the only thing in my whole post you can find wrong. typical moronic christian attitude. nukka? direct derivative of "Nigger". So now being christian also allows you to be homophobic, anti-semitic, AND racist. wow.
Posting a comment twice is a common error. I've done it myself. The guy probably drinks too much beer and doesn't have anything better to do with his time than make a fool of himself on the web.
Y'all right about one thing only: Nukka is Nigga fr the new Willenium. "Nigger" is frr textbooks. Nigga is fr MCs. Nukka is fr everybody else. Nukka! ***say it once, sounds so nice ;)~ The rest of your info was all about you 'tarding out. "Accidental double post" is code for "weak." Rich, this may be yr site, but "common error" is code for "bullogna." Bull on ya! "Typical moronic X-tian 'tude" - uhh... Left-hand path in the house say "Yeah!" Look sh*t up when you don't know whut it means. AND... at least be glad you otherwise made sense. Burning cds is so dark ages it makes me wince in my drawers. But dummy, you rail at the wrong set of nukkas if you think people at this site gonna say "yr right! I was brainwashed!" Preachin to the choir... (dare I say it?) .. NUKKA!
so . . . me having different views than you makes me an alcoholic. good job.i'm straight edge, which in case you don't know, means that i don't participate in the use of mind altering substances. Alcohol included. and i'm making a fool of myself on the internet. if anyone is being made a fool of its people who follow an organized religion. i don't expect anyone to tell me i'm right. i actually expect to be shot down, that's what makes it so fun. letting the people of the world see how defensive you people get. just because you believe it doesn't mean everyone else has to. missionaries and other such religion spreaders are just trying to rule the world. before i know it there will be only one religion, and it will be christianity, because you cant quit shoving it down everyone's throats. i can't wait to see what kind of response i get for this. i don't know what this left hand path shit is, i just know that you're defending christians, so you must be one. i don't care why you say nukka, its a word that is derogative and hateful toward people and if you ask me, thats not very christian.
Yo 'Lex: It is time to purchase a clue, oatmeal brains. You're posting on a site fun by a fag that puts up articles about sh*t too stoopid to believe. We who read it then make posts along the line of -- "that's so stoopid" I just get some kicks reading about newly illuminated nukkas like yrself & how self-righteous they can be. Rich (the head fag) actually came to yr Nukka defense & called me an alcoholic. I don't give a damn. "Straight edge" is code for "don't have the bawls" to try an altered state of consciousness. That's cool. You'll get high with some really chill people one day & flip your script. "I just know you're defending X-tians... you must be one"? I got a bridge to sell you, Nukka. I don't defend sh*t: I just call weak-kneed, snot-nosed, mealy-mouthed, watery-bowel sukkas out. X-tainity ain't the only game in town. And in case you haven't noticed, the other contenders are kreepin on up. Science is the new fundamentalism, blud (shh - it's a secret!) Don't you know what Google is? Left-hand path in the house say: "Yeah!"
i'm done with this. this site is stupid. you have anything else to say to me, send me an email and i'll think about looking at it unless it has the word nukka in it.
you have to have a weak mind to get brainwashed by music, movies, church, or anything else that can influence people. Nukka is a dumb made up word that you probably made up to act like you are creative. if you were to make up a new word for nigger it would be nilla (as in va'wafer) which i am sure you are. lex you have a point(i your first comment you sent 2) and i agree with you. "gitcha stop acting like a bitcha and find a new hobby besides bitching and switcha"(hope i brainwashed you:-)
Hey I think that if you are really trying to follow god and his inspired (God breathed) teachings in the bible, you'll SINCERELY try to "clean out your temple" body, mind and soul. Just like Alex says that he is straight edge, that term i think can apply to more than chemicals introduced to your body, it can be applied to mind and soul as well, I'm a new christian and i definatley got rid of the music that i listened to ei.. house, hard house, jungle, punk, reggae, indie rock, not because i think its evil or the artist are evil or because its brain washing, simply because i am a musician and i relate that music to some bad choices that i've made, like the rave culture, i did alot of bad things that i sincerely ask my heavenly father to forgive, i think i want to emphasize more than anything that I in the hearts of my hearts have been convicted and i truly want nothing else than to worship God in everything that i do, Popping in some Timo Maas and remembering the party out in San Franscico and the money i made from selling E, simply makes me sad, truly sad, i was lost, I Thank God for not leaving me in the state of mind body and soul i was in those dark days
FONZ: weak as ya mama's knees while I lick on her twat / ya said what? on the brainwash skills / I'm tha rilla / YOU NILLA, a nukka like me / had to be persistently influentially flippin the script for all to see / left in a lurch, as y'all attackin the church / 'cuz she be 'tarded anyway like my dawg Simon Birch. NUKKAZ! Oh, ill-een: Klean is kool, but klarity is killer. Cleanse them doors of perception. Also: timo maas is massively lame. You should pick up Be Here Now & get some groove in yr step. LEFT-HAND PATH IN THe HOUSE SAY "YEAH!"
Gitcha I love your style, where else do your post? so I looked up Be here now, i need more info... Timo Maas NOT LAME, somewhat mainstream, but he throws good parties, that was over ten years ago though, who knows what he's doing now.. Anyways, i'm not upset about what was said about christians, i just thought you guys should know why one new christian makes similar choices, i doubt that Hichschool kids knew what they were doing, or what kind of statement they were making, thanks for the freestylie.
ill-een: you are my only friend on this site & that makes me so warm inside I could cry. MAYBE Maas ain't lame, but... Y'know when yr a kid & you love Count Chocula cereal? Then you start eating it everyday in college? Then one morning you wake up & realize you're sloshing thru a bowl of sh*t-brown sugar? Maas is like that. I prefer them breakbeats. Be Here Now ain't music, it's a book that will help break you free so you can enjoy the music. It's by my mellow Ram Dass. LftHndPthNThHsSy: YEAH!
The truth of the matter is that music does influence people. There are studies that show this to be true and not to mention countless musicians have made statements about it's influence. If people want to burn music as an expression of their free speech, who are we to question that right. Rap artists, such as; Public Enemey recognized the influence in music and used it for that purpose. It's only when Christians want to "fight the power" that it becomes a bigger issue.
Christians have the goddamned power. And it is tiresome to hear people who've shaped this country so horribly whine about how they are picked on. Atheists don't get to pick presidents, skeptics aren't courted as a voting block. But the self-pitying born again are every day. "We aren't of this world" they whine while the affect everything from what Wal-Mart is willing to sell to how many gay men kill themselves because their Christ-kissing parents despise them.
Christians have the power? Last time I checked Christians were the most villified people on the planet. Where is this power that Christians have? How many shows on TV are influenced by Christian thought? How many movies are made that contain Christ centered philosophy? Mel Gibson makes a movie about Jesus and quickly the press tries to attack everything, but the movie. You give the Moral Majority and Religious Right way to much influence. I can point out scores of cases where Christian ideals are being "sent packing". The Roy Moore case is one example of that Christian power getting its way. I think you need to reconsider the notion that Christians have a huge power block. I can't help that the majority of people believe in God or in a Higer Being. Atheists make up a small percentage of the population and therefore make up smaller numbers at the voting booth. I respect your thinking, but it is simply incorrect. Now on your last point I am in agreement, somewhat. I think far to often Christian folks lose focus on the real task, but I also believe we have a right to protest things that we find offensive. I believe that if an Atheist is offended by something Theists do, they have every right to protest as well. America affords us the opportunities to have dialogue and speak our minds. I wrote song lyrics years ago speaking to the issue of children who kill themselves over sexual identity issues. I would never stand up for the idea of parents or peers attacking son/daughter or friend who are gay. I don't believe Christians "worth their salt" would attack fellow human beings, but would seek to love them.
I'm too habituated to Christians ignoring how much they've affected the penal code of every state in the union to feel an urge to repond to special pleading for their consideration as a persecuted minority. I deeply wish Christians didn't have a fraction of the power they like to pretend they don't. I don't object to anybody protesting anything. I violently object to anybody interfering with my life or the life of the man that I love.
I get the idea that the core of the issue for you is gay marriage laws. Every individual has subjective ideas about life. The way you live and how you think influences how you see the world and the same goes for me. Are there Objective moral laws? Are ideas of morality just a bi-product of evolution? If so, then why bother with laws? You and I as cosmic accidents have every right to survival. The Columbine murders cannot be labeled as "wrong". Matthew Shepherd's death at the hands of a-holes means no more than a dog hit by a car. Life means nothing in an evolving wasteland. I hate to get off subject, but I feel like ideas of penal laws written by Christians has to be put into a larger perspective. The founders had God as their center and it came out in the laws that they put in place for us. I still would disagree that in todays culture and PC laws, Christians get a favored status. I can point out to many examples of how culture and law spits in our faces. I don't wish to persecute anyone and as a Christian I would stand with you against anyone who would attack you as a person. Whether you believe it or not, I am a very persecuted person. I face persecution from people all the time. I wouldn't liken it to how you are probably treated, but I get attacked quite often. People see me in a shirt sporting a scripture and instantly they attack me as a hater or homophobe. Read some of the virulent claptrap on this web site. Christians are labeled as stupid, ignorant, racist, bigoted and the list goes on. In every area of thought there are mean people. Do you really believe it is only Christians that are against gay marriage? How would you define beauty? What does love mean to you? Do you believe that Jesus lived? Just curious how you see the world as a whole. I haven't read every article on your site, but I enjoy this dialogue very much. Brian
I may come back and answer some of your questions later or simply point you to entries where I've written about my view of the world. For now I'll point you to what I currently consider my view of contemporary American Christianity. Go to my personal weblog: http://www.edifyingspectacle.org/weblog/ Scroll about halfway down the page and you'll see an entry entitled: "Christians kind and homophobic."
I tried to find my long entry about objective morality but I can't remember the title. If you go to any weblog home page click on one at the top right of this page) you'll see a search box on the upper right. Search for: Misanthropy, Atheism, Moralizing, Luck and: Earlier atheist rants & raves More than you'll want to know. Richard
I will read the material tonight, but I am curious as to how you feel about love and beauty. Do you think that Jesus was an actual historical man or just myth? I read that first page and noted that you are a materialist. I will assume that you are in agreement with Richard Dawkins about how human life originated and evolved. I have read many articles on morality, but would you view you or your partners life as important? Are you offended by others who beat and kill because of someones sexual identity? What defines the meaning in your life or a friends? If evolution is accepted and material is the end all of life, then value is simply subjective. A jerk like Fred Phelps believing what he does is right is just as valid as my opinion that he is wrong. I can't say what he stands for is "wrong", I can only state that it is my choice. When Susan Smith chose to drown her two children, how can anyone question her right to do so. The idea of meaning becomes irrelevent and my desires take center stage. Those two children suffered as the car sank into the water, but that is no different than the tragedy of the tiger attacking Roy Horn. You may say we are rational beings, but that is just an accident of the cosmos. There is no inherent difference in man or animal. This is why I am curious about how you see your loved ones, set against the backdrop of meaning and value. I appreciate you taking time to respond and dialogue with me. I think more people would benefit in this life, if they took time to speak to others.
The weekend is my busy time at work. I'll give you some sort of answer as soon as I have time. It'll be limited since you are all but asking me to write a very long book. Richard
Obviously, you don't really even have to answer me. You can break up the subject matter. The whole subject of morality can be addressed later and I don't believe it takes a book to respond. I have read arguements from the best Atheist minds, but I just want to know how you as a person answer these questions. When you have a moment just respond to the issue of those you care about and what love means to you. Then later within that context, give me an idea how value for life comes into play. If this whole dialogue is something that ismore of an annoyance just le me know. It isn't my intention to make you feel that you have to waste your time answering me. I am just curious as to how you see the bigger questions of life narrowed into our daily reality. Brian
I would like to talk a little about my views on Christianity. I am a Christian, and I think the whole thing about music brainwashing you is just stupid. Music doesn't brainwash you. I listen to Eminem, and I'm not brainwashed. Certain music can have a negative effect on you, but it won't brainwash you (unless it's some sort of weird hypnotic kind of music). I've been a Christian since I was born, and I believe everything that the Bible says. Most Christians don't act that strange, but there are lots of really strange ones. I think it's the kind of people that do stuff like that CD burning and stand in the streets and scream stuff like "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!" that give Christians a bad name. True Christians don't have anything against gay PEOPLE, they are just against what they believe. I've seen people who claim to be Christians, but they hold up signs that say stuff like "God Hates Fags." Stuff like that is not true, God doesn't hate anybody. In one of these articles someone said "Those two children suffered as the car sank into the water, but that is no different than the tragedy of the tiger attacking Roy Horn." I don't know how anybody could say something like that. Two kids lost their lives, and Roy Horn was only injured. Also, I don't know how anbody could believe in evolution. How could someone think that such a perfect universe was created by accident? I know I will probably receive a few replies to that question that will say things like "If it is such a perfect world how come people die?" etc. So I will just answer that now. If sin hadn't come into the world we wouldn't have any problems. If anyone has any questions about the stuff I just said, or if you have any questions about what Christians REALLY believe then please ask. twix

How do you feel?
