Wichita school board upset by statue

Cheap Laughs

The Wichita city schools had banned college recruiters from visiting schools because a statue the university currently has on display offended a few school board members.

The sculpture, titled "Holier Than Thou," depicts the bust of a scowling, heavyset clergyman wearing a ceremonial hat. Some observers think the miter looks like a penis and that the statue insults Catholics.

Wichita schools permit visits despite statue controversy

Comments

Yeah, whatever. I live in Topeka, Kansas, where this university is. I've taken classes there. (I'm also what a certain article on this site would call a 'fundagelical') I would just like to say that I have seen the statue up close and personal, and it does NOT look like a penis. My entire lit. class went to see it one day, and nobody could figure out how anybody could see something that resembled a penis.

How do you feel?

Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
