Use of girl altar servers should be avoided

Catholic , • Cheap Laughs

God doesn't like fun or girls.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - No dancing in the aisles or applause in church, please, we're Catholic. And we'd prefer altar boys to altar girls. ...

The draft also warns against the use of non-Biblical language during the mass, such as readings from poets.

It discourages the practice where the faithful receive the wafer and wine at communion.

Catholics believe Christ is present in the wafer and wine but the document says it is preferable just to receive the wafer.

"Self-service" communion is also frowned upon. This appeared to be a reference to the faithful taking the consecrated host directly from the chalice instead of receiving it on their tongue from the hand of a priest.

Its about time we stop allowing women into every single thing that men do. I believe with all my heart that when little boys serve at the altar it helps to increase vocations. I am the mother of ten children (eight boys and two girls). The girls are eight and six years old. I wasn't going to allow them to serve on the altar in the future.(If they asked, that is) I also have to teach my children about reconciliation before communion because our church doesn't teach the children until the fourth grade. Why should I have to do this. It states right in the Catholic Catechism, " Children must receive first reconciliation before communion." The thought for teaching in the fourth grade was, " They are better able to understand it." Receiving Communion is much more difficult than stating your sins. Any of my children could tell you that. So delay Communion if you must, but not reconciliation. Believe me, they know what a sin is at age seven. My piece said, I'll adjourn now. Sincerely, Mrs. Laura Diamond
Diamonds : Yr words hit my ear like cubic zirconia, wifey. Any left-hander will tell you that the ladies have that rill ju-ju. Girls in the service, y'all! Nukkas
I served on the altar as an altar boy from 8 years old to 16 years old. I served with 3 other boys and we all enjoyed it. I am now 23 years old and I am 100% sure I will become a Roman Catholic Priest in a few years time. I know that because I was an altar boy this gave me the learning i needed to make up my mind. Allowing girls to serve on the altar is not what Jesus Christ intended so I ask how can you truly love God and yet disobey him so bluntly. The Vatican was only forced into this due to constant disobedience from many bishops. It is also clear that this little experiment will be stopped very soon under our new Pope. I respect any parish that prefer Boys as servers and I know alot of Priests who refuse to allow girls any kind of role of this standard. I had great fun serving on the altar and I felt special and proud and after ready many web pages on the Internet the felling I get is girls think its great "like drama school" and your on a stage and your the star role. This itself says a great deal about the way this situation is going and with women starting to ordain themselves, surely girl servers is going to encourage this further. This "I can do what men do" world in which we live must not and I repeat not effect our role in the Catholic Church. How far have we drifted from the standard that Jesus Christ wanted us to. Rest assured when i become a Priest i will be running the way Christ intended!
