Simpleminded Sunday

Cheap Laughs

A fired quarry worker wants Sunday declared a legal day of rest.

The original tribunal hearing had found that Mr Copsey was dismissed for refusing to accept a change in his working hours, and the company had "bent over backwards" to help him resolve his problem with Sunday working.
Appeal over Sunday working decision

The guy has the support of the Keep Sunday Special campaign. Their website says:

Keep Sunday Special (KSS) has been fighting to preserve Sunday as a day for rest, family activities and worship since 1985. It has had the support of a wide variety of organisations including churches, unions, trade associations and retailers.

Bet you they don't give a damn if Jews and others get to keep their holy day 'special.'

Someone once said to me: "my religion forbids work on the weekend." I could subscribe to that! Good excuses department: "I am Xian but my wife is Jewish and wants to raise the kids that way, so no weekend work for me!"
I just thought you should know that I'm a Christian and no one who knows me could possible consider calling me lazy. Is it so wrong to have one day a week set aside to devote solely to what matters most in your life. Of course other religions should have their most holy day respected. After all, this country was founded on Christian principles and started as a country that allowed the freedom of religion and respected all religions despite differences. Where has that gone. I AM NOT LAZY. Nor have I ever been. I simply want that one day a week my God has told me to set aside for Him and work only to praise Him, not to fill my own pockets or to increase the weight of my employer's pocketbook. You are entitled to your own opinion about this subject, sir, because of the freedoms we enjoy here in America, but please don't insult my beliefs or me because you do not know me. And due to the nature of your atheism, you do not know my beliefs either.
It should be a legal day of rest

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Simpleminded Sunday. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
