Foursquare Gospel bilked of $14 million

Cheap Laughs

Given that the Foursquare Gospel was a creation of that amiable fraud Aimee Semple McPherson I can't imagine an more appropriate church for Gregory Setser* to have targeted.

[ex-President Paul] Risser had drawn criticism from some Foursquare leaders for entrusting funds from a church foundation to Financial Advisory Consultants Inc. of Lake Forest and IPIC International Inc. of Ontario, Williams said.

Both firms recently were shut down by federal authorities, who described them as Ponzi schemes that paid big returns to certain early investors with money obtained from late-comers.

Foursquare Gospel lost $14 million invested in what authorities allege were Ponzi schemes

* And: Greedy televangeslists bilked

Comments

Foursquare been involved in scams for most of their history. Their founder is most famous for faking her own kidnapping. They aren't victims, they are perpetrators. Foursquare lost 14 million, but their members lost millions more of their own money. Those are the true victims and this is just the latest, largest scam for Foursquare.
