Catholic Students Will Be Punished for Weblogs

Catholic

Any student at Pope John XIII Regional High School in Sparta, NJ will be suspended if he keeps a weblog.

Kieran McHugh may offers a silly defence for forbidding students to have weblogs.

More likely it is just a way to keep students from daring to express their opinions.

McHugh said that what he was doing was not censorship it was common civility, courtesy and respect. McHugh said he was protecting children from sexual predators, cyber-bullying and harassment.

Some of the kids at the school think that the principal was a little miffed when some of them posted comments about the school in their blogs.

Wow, a Catholic school concerned about protecting kids from sexual predators. Ironic isn't it? Of course the real concern for the principal is that these kids should speak out about the school or it's faculty.
