Ram Bahadur Bamjan Cult Flourishes

Asian

The group that had planned to investigate the claims of boy Buddha Ram Bahadur Bamjan has been blocked. No one like to be told what they believe is nonsense. Nor lose the sales of tea, CDs and knick knacks.

There have been suggestions that the boy is part of a plot by left-wing guerrillas to collect money from gullible villagers, but officials are hampered by a group of minders who refuse to allow anyone to disturb him.

Please leave him alone and allow him to acheive his goal.
Surely he is so above it all that nothing can interfere with his goal.
Don't you know I am that boy, not this!
My understanding of at least traditional Buddhist belief is that Siddhartha Gautama, or Gautama Buddha, was his final incarnation. And, that in achieving nirvana, removed himself from the wheel of existence and thus would not be subject to future reincarnations. In this, the Buddha differs from bodhissatvas, who, upon attaining enlightenment, turn away from nirvana (or dissolution into the infinite), and return to the wheel of existence and further reincarnations in order to assist all other beings toward enlightenment. It strikes me that any claim this person makes to be a reincarnation of Gautama Buddha, therefore, should at the very least be received with some degree of reticence.
