• Absurd Inurbane Witless
The story of the Acadiana Louisiana schoolboy who was punished for saying his mother is gay (she is) has faded from the news. The citizens of Lafayette Parish are clearly full of Louisiana swamp gas and bigotry. A short sample:

The School Board settled the case in a compromise that allowed the children to come to school as long as they wore head covers in approved school colors and submitted to a search of the headcovers each morning. The latter stipulation was made because some school officials said that “weapons or contraband” could have been smuggled into to school under the hats.
Requiring them to wear the school colors was a nice, tight-minded touch wasn't it?
The title of an ACLU press release sums up another instance:
“ACLU Says Louisiana Sheriff Can’t Censor ‘The Hokey Pokey’ at Skating Rink; Britney Spears CD Seized as ‘Evidence of Crime.’ ”
The peculiar definition of public assembly:
The second case involved a man who was told he would be arrested for protesting on the roadside in front of a K-Mart if he didn’t buy a $5 “public assembly” permit.
