International Churches of Christ going to hell

Absurd Inurbane Witless

Good news: the Amway of Christianity is crumbling.

Thomas ''Kip'' McKean, its charismatic founder, has stepped down. Its world governing body has dissolved and dozens of local church leaders have resigned or been fired, in part because churches can no longer afford to pay their salaries. Behind the story of a teetering church empire is the tale of the autocratic visionary who built it and his independent-minded daughter, now a Harvard senior, whose decision to leave the church sparked turmoil in the already troubled group.

International Churches of Christ, a strict religious body founded in Boston, is collapsing.

the leadership of the church is composed of criminals who are nothing more than degenerate thugs. kip mckean - what a joke - steve johnson - another kip wanna be. it is of highest comedic irony that kip's face was finally rubbed in his own excrement by his own beloved daughter in true discipleship fashion. ha ha ha
Though I agree that the teachings of the International Church of Christ are false doctrine, I hardly feel their actions justify your unchristian attitude. Since I can't find anything on this site identifying who you are, perhaps you will identify yourself in an e-mail to me and we can discuss your approach which I find embarrassing as a member of the Lord's church.
I am a former member of the ICOC in Pittsburgh. I have no doubt that the origional intent of most of the leaders in the church was their love for God and desire to live their lives by the bible, but the truth is that many mambers never disposed of their biggotry towards large people and races. Many of them perverted the bible to manipulate the people around them and therefore they got away with more than the others. It became a cult when those who were given more responsibilty saw it as power and abused it.I am sill recovering from my experince with this so called church. I am learning to think for myself again and see myself as a beautiful full figured young woman instead of a fat sinful abominationas they in so many words called me. If you are intrested in hearing more aout my experience with this "church" then email me at librafox25@netscape.net. To any of the other members who have left and are having a hard time having a normal life my advice to you is seek thereapy if you must to fix what ever mental anguish you are suffering and remember that God is not those people and he doesn't agree with them. Keep your head up and when in doubt obey your conscience. Don't do nything to hurt humaity or yourself.
I am a 19 year old current member of an ICOC. Writing off an entire church of people as criminal and set for damnation is a judgment only God can make. 1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God. We need to be looking at individual hearts before God, not categorizing and labelling entire movements. Is it not possible that the apparant collapse of the ICOC is an indication of a worldwide repentance and appropriate brokenness about the hierarchical leadership that developed? I acknowledge that many people have been hurt by harsh leadership and enforced convictions but these are the very issues that are currently being addressed. Instead of slandering and harboring attitudes why not pray for the spiritual success and eternal life of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ? Pray that we are humble and open to change. We all have sin and I find this shake up encouraging as it is an indication that we are changing and open to God's discipline. A totally lost and hard hearted movement would not be so broken and hurting. Now we are looking forward to change and growth that comes with spiritual maturity, and most importantly a real and deep love for eachother. Matthew 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
Thank you for the last comment. I couldn't agree with you more about not judging others. But I do see the importance of accountability within the body of Christ. (This being cross-denominationally) To support or be a part of an organization that claims to lift up the name of Christ and is hereticial at the same time, raises many questions in my head whether or not a group is truly a part of the body of Christ. As a follower of Christ it is of utmost importance to remember that His Word (Scripture) is what will always remain true. If it is going beyond what scripture has to say, than it is of no value or meaning to the follower of Christ. We need to move away from what we feel God is telling us and open our eyes to what He has been telling us through His Word. It is all there. There is no need for anything else outside of scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." I will most definately be praying for you all in your search for Truth and most importantly, that it would be grounded in the Word of God! I definatley am willing to talk to anyone who has any questions. I am a young man searching for God's Truth. Feel free to contact me at stevo81@writeme.com.
