Anglican Communion: Time for a Schism

Sodom & Gomorrah Show

The elevation of Katharine Jefferts Schori has conservatives angry and the lukewarm nervous.

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams praised her, but warned the move could highlight "continuing issues" between branches of the worldwide communion.

Most have resisted elevating women bishops and oppose homosexuality.

Bishop Schori's election was hailed by many US Episcopalians as a victory for women.

However, it deepens the split between liberals and conservatives among the world's 77-million-strong Anglican Communion, analysts say.

Rowan Williams is a professional bore.

There's no need to keep the Anglican Communion together. The Nigerian officials might as well be living in another dimension. A little bit of history and nomenclature aside they have little in common with their American counterparts.

Let it split.

Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
