Monkey in the Middle
• Happy Skepticism
Mencken would surely get a huge belly-laugh were he alive to witness the goings on in Dayton, Tennessee where the Scopes Trial was held.
I must confess I don’t understand the choice of The Shaggy Dog.Barbecue will be sold all three days of the festival, and the movie The Shaggy Dog will be presented by the Dayton Merchants Association free at Centennial Park on Friday. The play, Monkey in the Middle, a two-and-a-half-hour re-enactment of the key portions of the trial, will be presented all three days in the main courtroom at the courthouse. Performances will be held Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. The cost is $15 for reserved seats and $12 for general admission.
Do wish I had some of that barbecue.
